Why you should switch to continuous flow hot water.

Only uses energy when in use

When you turn on the hot water tank, it instantly fires up and starts to heat up the hot water. This means you save money on energy because traditional hot water systems are constantly heating up and cooling down even when you do not use the energy.

Lasts longer

Generally, Continuous flow (tankless water heaters) have a lifespan of 20 years or more as compared to standard-tank water heaters which last about a decade.  One main reason is because it does not store water like a tank (still water is not a good thing) This means in the lifespan of one tankless water heater you would probably end up using two traditional water heaters—saving you even more time and money. Keep in mind that the useful life of your water system also depends on how you maintain your heater. That 20-year lifespan is assuming the water quality in your area is good and you use it on the regular (not having 8 people live at home and take 2 showers a day for example.

Warranty

Rinnai really put their money where there mouth is and back it up with a 10 year warranty. We have been installing these for years and I personally have not see one with an issue, I have swapped out old 15 year old rinnai b26 from homes that still work fine  An additional benefit is that they often have more extended warranties. Many manufacturers offer warranties or an option to upgrade your warranty plan, rinnai have a deal like this on their infinity brand which can cost $400 more.

Okay so the cons

Gas Models may require additional piping. So say if you have a storage tank hot water system, there may be a need to re-route a gas line or have a new one installed. This can lead to additional cost and work, which makes the price of the initial setup add a few extra $$. Keep in mind that a gas system will need to be piped in regardless of the presence of a tank, but because tankless systems are often wall mounted, more copper is required. If your gas line is too small, you may need it to be upgraded, see, continuous flow systems need a lot more gas to get that cold water hot fast and if you have a small line going to your tank, we may need to upsize it. Cost will depend on how far the gas meter is to the unit.

They call it instant but… its just a tiny bit less instant than a water tank

These units are not “instant” per say, they do take 2-3 seconds longer than traditional hot water storage tanks because you have to understand it has to get cold water to hot really really fast, but I think that is a good compromise. The only reason why storage tanks are more instant, is because they are always hot because they are always using your $$ to keep them hot. And remember this is not really a con, you will save more money on energy and 2-3 is not long, if you look at a clock and watch 3 seconds go past it is almost instantly, hmm.

Summary and how they save you money

These units are great and they are so popular we only really offer this one brand (and we have no affiliation with them or kick backs) we prefer to find a brand that works and just use it because having

It is not a secret how these things save you money, you are only using energy when they fire up. We have had customers call us up just to tell us how much they have saved by switching and how happy they are. Also, let energy means more green for the planet, I mean that has to make you feel good right?
